The total forest cover decreased from 61.15% in 2002 to 59.09% in 2006. In Cambodia, the forest looses about 93 thousand ha per year because of the expansion of agriculture and other plantations. Mining has been a huge problem in Cambodia recently and it has been damaging a lot of resources of the people who lives near the mining sites. This is also where the 9th MDG comes in. The mining causes erosion because the workers cuts the tree down or dig a lot of holes in the soil. It is also very dangerous to the children and people living around where the project was being performed at. Cambodia is still struggling in this goal but like always, little by little things are getting a little bit better.
